A symposium and workshop on Insecticide Resistance Management was held in Subang Jaya, Malaysia on December 7th 2009. The event was organized and sponsored by the IRAC South East Asia with the assistance of the Malaysian Croplife and Public Health Association
Lynne Matthews is taking over from Fabrice Robin as BASF representative on the Pollen Beetle WG. Lynne has responsibility for insecticides in the BASF UK based technical team and has been organising the PB monitoring there in the last few years.

A new international WG investigating and monitoring resistance in lepidopteran pest has been formed with IRAC members from a number of companies sitting on the team. A first conference call of the new WG was held in December 2009 and it was agreed that one of the first priorities would be to investigate the resistance status
The next IRAC International Spring Meeting will be hosted by CropLife America in their offices in Washington DC. Plans for the meeting and agenda are being developed by the Executive Committee. IRAC members please mark the dates in your diaries!
The IRAC US group held one of their routine meetings during the recent ESA Conference. As well as normal business and reviews of various research projects, updates were provided by the Communication, Biotech, Diamide and Neonicotinoid IRAC Subcommittees. Support and actions required to update the MSU Resistance Database were also discussed.
The WG held their latest conference call on December 9th when the various ongoing actions and activities were reviewed. These included: Future minor updates to the classification scheme Distribution of the new printed structures posters Status of the new pest specific MOA posters Development of a new MOA brochure An MOA presentation at the ESA
Ralf Nauen, the IRAC Chairman attended and gave a presentation at the 5th International Bemisia Workshop on November 9th-12th, 2009. The presentation was well recieved and it was an oportunity to promote the importnat work of IRAC in China where we don’t currently have a formal presence.
After 2 years as Vice-Chair and 3 years as Chairman, José-Ramón Soler (Sipcam) is stepping down as Chairman of IRAC Spain although he is remaining as an important member of the group taking up the role of Coordinator for the Communication and MoA WGs.
